I swear I listened attentively when he explained it to me, but I cannot remember one thing atm. Strange... ;) Maybe because there really wasn't a discussion about this :) We only discussed putting in scorched earth / smoke animation after a unit is destroyed. This was dismissed as it would interfer...

IIRC from back when the look was decided these units were, historically, just nominally "Cavalry" and "Mountain" while in effect they were not much different from ordinary infantry. Hence the same icon.

To be honest, I favor nato symbols for both; their graphical simplicity and their functionality as a notational system. I was actually initially proposing we use them all the way. But we decided early on that it would be more suitable to go with illustrative counters plus easy moddability.

You mean like Hungaro-Romanian Motorized Cavalry? :mrgreen: But seriously, yeah, the concept for icons is to represent the most dominant or recognizable piece of equipment or uniform, so there will surely be some new designs in eventu...

The game uses very stable software rendering engine. It should run on any graphics hardware in any resolution, windowed or fullscreen, without problems.
