Re: Future directions? Extra content, expansions, editor etc
I am not convinced that a random/picked system would work well in this engine, since it is so focussed on what are effectively speed-runs. However, people who don't own the game have to be aware that you do get the option to place scheduled or bought reinforcements in-game (specialist like engineers...

Re: Multiplayer questions
I found that many of the single-player missions, those in which the defender had some counter-attacking power and some room to manoeuvre, were actually very playable in multiplayer. We just ensured that we played one game as each side in the scenario and compared our individual scores at the end (ge...

Re: Race for Rostov AAR -> reinforcing feedback plz
Yeah, adding supply to the rail line is pretty pointless (I did it first time though, since I'd got into the habit of always adding to the rail supply when I had one). One other thing I found useful was to push a unit or two from the front that I wanted to really kick hard (either the North or the S...

Re: Race for Rostov AAR -> reinforcing feedback plz
I felt you did pretty well overall. Losing your supply, as you did for a couple of turns in the middle and then at the end is often quite devastating, so not bad that you managed to complete in 9. Rostov is one of the easier ones and it is possible to do it in 6 if you are really going for it! Few p...

Re: Modding possibilities?
If you wanted a different scale in a mod, you could just declare that the tiles were 5km wide and name the units as regiments (or whatever). Maybe you'd need to alter some stats though, since as the size of units reduces, so can their specialities (you could have a unit that was all tanks, whereas n...

Re: No move take back & no saves?
The problem with that argument is that many players will still feel robbed if they can't actually finish the campaign, and get quite frustrated - I have plenty of games that I've abandoned because the campaign put up a wall to me (I was never able to even complete the first mission in Men of War: Re...

Re: No move take back & no saves?
I too didn't bother trying to get the brilliant victory in the campaign, but I found the single missions worked just as well and I didn't have to grind a single scenario until I beat it, but as you said, could play each mission until I got bored and played the next. I think the requirement for brill...

Re: Possible request for History Mode
I'd noticed the lack of a back one turn and jump to start/end buttons too. One problem would be that the save file contains full details of the final position and all the moves that have been made since the start of the game, so jumping all the way to the start could take a while, but at least it is...

Re: Safe to buy the game NOW?
I can understand people worrying about games being half-finished on release. It has become a real problem for all gamers; I commonly don't touch games for a few months after release and I can't remember the last time I bought a game at full price, because new games are commonly broken and playing th...

Re: Safe to buy the game NOW?
To answer simply, the closed beta (which was a proper beta, not a marketing beta) was significantly more polished and stable than most games these days on gold release day. The only thing I'd say was that was incomplete was support for multi-player. It works perfectly well as far as it goes (they us...
