Question on stragglers

Do all of your stragglers that remain on the map when the scenario ends get auto-collected, or are they lost forever? I ask since rather than lose steps it might be worthwhile to move your HQ even if not strictly necessary just to make sure you collect everybody up.

From the manual, page 16:
At the end of a scenario, all stragglers are assumed to make it back to friendly lines and are automatically reorg’d and available for use by their HQ in the next battle.
