Hi Mahludwig,

can you tell me what happens precisely.

You click on Play in Steam, then: does the main screen of the game show up or not? Also, if the game crashed, it should leave a log file on your desktop: Unity of Command CRASH.log. Are you seeing this?

Finally, in Steam, go to Library, then right-click on Unity of Command and select Properties. Under "Set Launch Options" type a single word: safe

When you restart the game it should be running in a 1024x768 window. If that works OK, you can set the game to run in a window of any size you like under Main Menu -> Options (remember to remove "safe" option though).

Hi,

The main menu screen doesnt even pop up, only the box with the unity of command text in it. I dont have the Crash.log on my desktop..
I typed the single word "safe" in set launch options.
Still my laptop doesnt work and i need to restart the whole laptop

Cheers

Are you referring to the splash screen (shown below)? Are you able to see that?

OK, so after that what happens precisely?

The computer freezes as I understand, but is nothing else displayed but this splash screen?

And then it just stays that way and computer does not respond to anything (ALT-TAB, CTRL-ALT-DELETE)?

Note that my answer at this point is probably "I don't know" but I just want to confirm these things. It's very strange that it would lock up this way, we've never had anything like that happen before... :?

Hello!

I am experiencing the same problem.

I bought the game on Steam, installed normally, and ran. Tried it a few times after rebooting, ran into the same problems.

Here's what happens:

1. The game is started using Steam.
2. The splash screen shows, the computer keeps running for a while, though slows immensely.
3. Briefly, the outline of a new window shows, maximized over the entire screen. It disappears immediately.
4. At some point, nothing responds anymore. The cursor is still mobile, but nothing responds to it, either clicking or hovering over it and lighting up or anything like that.
5. CTRL-ALT-DEL yields no response.
6. Trying to open the Windows start menu via the keyboard yields no response.
7. Waiting for a while, nothing continues to happen.

Some info on my system:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit
CPU: AMD A8-3850 (combined CPU and Radeon GPU), 2,90 GHz
RAM: 4 GB

All drivers are up to date AFAIK.

Hope you can pick a solution - otherwise I've just spilled some money down the toilet.
