Game Play vs Manual (for noobie)

Unread postby aRob76 » Fri Feb 03, 2012 8:47 pm

I'm new to UOC and have some questions on how the game played for me during Veronezh vs the manual.
*) Couldn't find the combat shift for rivers defined in manual;
*) Contrary to what I think the manual is saying, unit w/ recon steps are locked when entering enemy ZOC. Comments?
*) Does adding enough steps to standard unit cause it to degrade to green?

Hi aRob, welcome to the forums :-)

It looks like the river combat shift is not mentioned, good spotting. Standard units can never degrade to green - the easiest way to think of this is that reinforcement steps are always "standard". Note that green units cannot be "improved" with reinforcements though, and also they cannot be reorganized.

No, they are not locked - if this was the case, their "thunderbolt" AP indicator would turn to grey. The ZOC still does "eat" all of their movement points however, but the unit is left with an unlocked AP, which means it can e.g. leave the ZOC with extended movement if you wish.
