What was your final prestige after Axis campaign?

Unread postby robc04 » Wed Jan 25, 2012 2:02 pm

Nobody answered this at the Matrix site so I thought I would try here!

I'm competitive by nature, so I am curious how others faired in the Axis campaign. For those that finished the Axis campaign, what was your final prestige balance?

My prestige total after my final victory was 323.

Here are my scenario results:
Kharkov: brilliant
Voronezh: decisive
Case Blue: decisive
Edelweiss: decisive
Terek: decisive
Baku: decisive
Stalingrad: brilliant
Astrakhan: decisive
Kuibyshev: decisive

Hola!

My total prestige after final battle was 500

Here are my scenario results:
Kharkov: decisive victory
Voronezh: decisive victory
Case Blue: decisive victory
Edelweiss: decisive victory
Terek: decisive victory
Baku: victory
Stalingrad: brilliant victory
Astrakhan: victory
Kuibyshev: victory

That Stalingrad map took some working on before the BV :D

I was just checking, no one reported a perfect score on the Axis Campaign so far. This is curious because Axis Campaign should be easier than Soviet I think, and easyBreeze reported a max score on the Soviet Campaign already some weeks ago:
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=542

Danielefc reported a 631 for Axis, with all BVs:
viewtopic.php?f=39&t=493

I never maxed either campaign myself, we made so many changes all the time that it never happened for me. AFAIK, 631 is the highest reported score so far. Max score in Axis Campaign (2500) should be possible though, I know because we tested all scenarios extensively.

I did a bit better, 925 points. Probably i could use a bit less prestige if that would be my goal but i doubt i could max every single map without forcing myself to restart map over and over again just to get beter weather :D

My total was 551. I probably could have spent quite a bit less on Kuibyshev and Baku, and perhaps I'll try them again to see if I can do better. This was my second campaign playthough, after getting thumped in Stalingrad (normal victory on the very last turn) and Terek (loss) on the first go. This time I was better at not spending too much prestige early, so I was never at risk of being unable to buy the ever important specialist steps (engineers!).

Scenario results:
  • 2nd Kharkov, Decisive Victory, -0, +85 prestige
  • Voronezh, Decisive Victory, -50, +160
  • Case Blue, Decisive Victory, -20, +55
  • Edelweiss, Decisive Victory, -60, +155
  • Stalingrad, Brilliant Victory, -120, +200 (I outran my supplies and stent two turns with my breakout at the edge of the city, shuffling troops back and forth to get a few attacks in, but I'd cut off a huge number of Russian troops. The AI actually helped me out by attacking with the entrenched troops defending the city, so I was able to win on turn 6 before the reinforcing Russian tanks could make an impact. I think if the AI had held off his attacks I would have had a more difficult time, though I would have had engineers in place well before turn 8 and most of his supplies were going to be cut.)
  • Terek, Decisive Victory, -135, +25
  • Astrakhan, Normal Victory, -60, +0 (I foolishly let the Russians capture my supply depot and then grossly underestimated how much time it would take to cross the desert after I'd reclaimed it.)
  • Kuibyshev, Brilliant Victory, -388, +500 (I'm pretty sure I could do this again with fewer reinforcements. I managed to win on time despite having my supposedly redundant supply lines unexpectedly cut by partisans two turns before the end. I was saved by air-dropped supplies and the fact that the defenders of the last last objective were almost all green and so always retreated from my panzer divisions. I had to occupy the objective with a unit that couldn't attack!)
  • Baku, Decisive Victory, -496, +400 (This was the only mission I restarted, due to my western force being cut off and decimated on Russian turn 1 on my the first try. Actually I restarted it twice, but the other time was due to a misclick on turn 1 that sent a panzer division off to nowhere. In retrospect I'm sure I could have done this with many fewer reinforcements, but I was paranoid after the first defeat. I needed to kill only one more step on a defending unit to have made this into a brilliant victory. Two of the AI's reinforcing infantry units from the south west kept climbing in and out of the mountains without ever actually threatening my supply line, I suspect because all the rain made the mountains impassible to supplies.)

Not easy - many scenarios took several goes. The worst was Terek - I had to try this at least 10 times before getting a BV, and there was no way I could do it without investing Prestige heavily. I usually tried to buy the Engineers and nothing else. The only one I overspent on was Baku - I got a break of good weather next to the sea, and could probably got away with 100 points less investment.

Note how critical getting BVs on Kuibyshev and Baku is for a good score.

Thanks to ComradeP for helping me up the learning curve!

And 2x2 for hours of fun............but I will be switching to other games until you get the time to implement multiplayer and new scenarios.

Hi all, I have just finished my first Axis campaign and my final score was around 605 points. In the first scenarios I have tried to not spend the prestige but in most cases it is a must. I will now play the russian part and then again I will go back to Axis campaing and I will try to beat the top. ;) GL HF

I haven't checked this thread in a while. I see that my final prestige score isn't very good. :(

My excuse to save face: I only played each scenario enough to win and move on, usually only 1-3 times. :)
