Map Graphics Requests

On my 24" 1920x1200 monitor swamps are difficult to see and hills are impossible to detect.
I use the terrain icon overlay, but I would still like to be able to see these on the main map.
Could the visibility of these terrain features be improved
Also, the front line boundary is so big and thick that it obscures everything under it, especially rivers and rails.
How about toning it down
