Bug?

Unread postby whatever » Sun Oct 27, 2013 2:39 pm

There is either a bug in the predicted odds or a bug in the game with the combat results.
After about ten hours of playing I know for certain that the odds shown on the predicted results average at least 40% worse than predicted. I have looked at some of the scenario walk-throughs and they are clearly playing a different game than I am. I imagine this game would be fun if the predicted results were in any way reflective of the actual results. The best I can tell, either people post their walk-throughs that finally work out after about twenty or so tries, or they are dealing with a different RNG than the rest of us. Could you fix one or the other, have the reflected results actually follow the predicted results, or change the predicted results table to reflect the actual probabilities?

Have you tried reinstalling the game? Maybe something with the game files is corrupt? Do you have the Steam version or the serial protected one from this page or from Matrix Games?
Maybe you're reading the odds wrong? I strongly suggest to look up the manual, the tutorials don't cover all aspects of the system. Look at page 9, it gives details about the combat result prediction/odds for retreat etc. The left big number is your predicted losses, the right big number is the enemy's losses.
Another tip: Make use of the "Undo" feature to check the possible results before committing troops to the attack, and don't try to attack enemy units over rivers except when your own units have specialist steps that facilitate such attacks.

I can tell you, I've nearly two years experience with the game, I've never experienced stuff like this. When you've figured out the AI and the system, the game isn't so hard.

If you think this is a bug, you need to post a savegame (or a video recording of the game with fraps) so we can take a look at it. We've never had an issue like that reported before.

What you need to know: Using a savegame, the complete battle can be viewed by the developers or by us so that we can give you better tips on what to do, or in case of the developers if there's some bug present.
