Cool, there's a new episode of the strategy games podcast with an interview with Tomislav Uzelac out now. I guess he'll hint at it himself in the blog and the forums, but want to make you aware of this:

I really love this podcast, if you don't know it yet, be sure to check out other episodes, you can find a full archive on Idle Thumbs and here:

Thanks for pointing this out, I haven't been promoting the show yet (as I should be).

I enjoyed chatting with Bruce and Rob, the time seemed to run out real quickly though.

Also my own voice sounds weird to me when recorded, but I guess that's pretty much the same for everyone. :)

Yeah, your recorded voice was pretty distorted. Great episode though! It was nice to hear you describe how you designed the game.

It appears that you need a decent mike otherwise that's how it sounds :?

I approached this as if just chatting with the guys, but I found out they are considerably more professional about it. It seems that that's what's really required if you want the podcast to sound good (and 3MA is usually pretty good).

Anyway, it was a great experience and I hope they invite me again at some point :)

Yeah, they always try to talk about the development, conception, mechanics etc. of the games the developers they invite have made, which can be very interesting as a fan (because you don't get informations like that elsewhere). If you don't know them yet, you should check out some of the "Classic game analysis" episodes they did, they made one about the Panzer General series as well:

Since there are full episode archives on Idle Thumbs and on the Flash of Steel blog (http://flashofsteel.com) you can listen to all of the episodes (which I literally did!).
I'm pretty sure those episodes where they discuss certain aspects of strategy games design, such as AI, scenario design etc. (always with many examples) are of great value to game developers.
