What is the use of earning prestige points if you can't save them and use them for the next scenerio in the campaign? :?

Im pretty sure you can, but you have to win over 200 prestige points. Ive gotten to "Stalingrad" and have to restart the German campaign because I was lazy and spent all my points on reinforcements. Now I have none for Stalingrad! :(

Just have to get brilliant victories and spend your prestige points wisely.

Brilliant victories are for most players definitely not achievable. Just reaching the normal turn-goals is very hard. And players who achieve brilliant victories certainIy don't need prestige points. The weaker players need them! Because of that fact I believe earning prestige points is a good game concept but has been badly designed in UoC. There should be no minimum limit you must reach to recieve those points. You should get what you have earned. Better players consequently get more points than weaker players. :?

Im a bit frustrated myself, going to take lots and lots of replays to try and get a brilliant vicotry, I like these games but not sure if I am able to get those prestige points im going to need for later on.

I agree, this game is far too hard to begin with, let alone the fact that the average player will more than likely never gain any prestige points. I love the part about SAVING them until it's really necessary. I'm not sure what the developers thought to gain by making this game so darn difficult. Congrats to those of you who persevere, you will truly have to be brilliant (and have a lot of spare time) to succeed but personally I'm resigning my command and going into hiding in Argentina.

Sorry to hear that!

If you want to give it one more try some time, I would suggest reading this blog post about supply if you haven't done so before.

Also, these videos by ComradeP are pretty much definitive when it comes to how to play like an expert:

I also agree. This game is far too difficult. I like the fact that the AI is aggressive but it is far much too much aggressive and is not making any mistake (which is not realistic). I am not sure it is normal you have to take the same scenario 10 times in a row to achieve a BV (which requires in the end not only strategy but a bit of luck - for instance Gallop Star or the Soviet end campaign scenario). Also I was a bit surprised to see how strong the SS units are, how numerous they are and I am wondering if it is historically accurate. I know that some wargame players have developed a "fascination" for these units (I don't) but it is my impression that the Wehrmacht did the war, not the SS. Thanks. Nice game though.

You definitely don't need BVs unless you are a completist and even if you are a great player, on most of the maps you'll need a lot of luck, as well as skill, to achieve that level of success. Regular players, including myself, should be aiming for a decisive, not a brilliant, victory, every time. I had hundreds of prestige left over by the end of the campaigns, if I remember correctly, since I was always saving it for a rainy day (and I had all three types of victories for the maps, since I wasn't replaying them until I managed to perfect them).

The AI does make mistakes; it isn't infallible once you get to know it (in fact, it gets irritatingly predictable after you've played for a while; in most games AI gets predictable after a map or two...). The thing is doesn't do is what most AIs do, which is just sits around waiting for you to manoeuvre in to make a virtually free kill from the perfect position.

Two tips for the German campaign:

1) Try getting as much prestige in the first three scenarios as you can, without worrying about BVs, save it all for Stalingrad where you actually need a BV to proceed. At the same time, don't be afraid to spend some prestige on specialist steps right from the start, as they can result in gaining more prestige than what you spent (especially since specialists cost significantly less in early scenarios than later on).

2) If you succeed to unlock all scenarios, for the last three ignore the order the game suggests, and do either Baku or Kuibyshev first, spending every single prestige you own on it, then the other of the two, again spending all prestige you have, and as last Astrakhan. The reason is that Baku and Kuibyshev give you up to 500 prestige each, meaning this way you have three scenarios where you can buy pretty much everything from the reserve and have a much easier time.
