Feature request: Classic Campaign

Unread postby juoc » Tue Nov 26, 2019 8:26 pm

First of, great game once again and nice to be back:)

I realize I'm in the minority but I'm not a fan of units carrying over and conferences. I don't want to worry about if I'm investing enough in specialist steps to win later scenarios or if I should bother with upgrading four american armies with the capability to cross large rivers or not. I much prefer tightly designed self contained scenarios where I know I have the means to win but my units aren't overpowered.

Please consider making an option for a campaign where only reached objectives and total score matters. If that's not possible, at least add some features to the scenario option to make it more appealing like the possibility to list the scenarios in chronological order and display high score and reached objectives per difficulty.

I'm going to go ahead and resurrect this old thread of mine after playing through both DLCs (really enjoyed Barbarossa btw:)). I still think this is a good idea even though my original post comes across a bit whiny.

A light weight mode for the campaigns where you don't need to bother with conferences, leveling your troops and buying the right specialist would make the game more accessible to newcomers and be the preferable entry to the game for many. There is also a benefit for experienced players. Both Blitzkrieg and Barbarossa got easier as the campaign progressed for me since I outperformed the default scenario army composition (I admit to stripping non-returning units of specialists). I would like to experience expertly balanced scenarios throughout the campaign.
