Two questions about UOC II

Unread postby welk49 » Sun Nov 07, 2021 11:58 am

Two questions about UOC II Please:

1/ Does UOC II work under windows 7 32 bits ?

2/ Any chance to be able to buy it on other place than Steam (don't like steam system, will never buy a steam game)

I bought UOC on the present site and game is fun, I plane some moding work with Nato counters (in a special welk's design, I have some ideas about to have nato counters adapted with vanilla maps graphics)

1. 64-bit only

2. We only sell UoC2 on Steam.

Cheers!

But too bad... I am a serial french modder and I planed some works with the game

I would advise you to get UoC2 for steam. You can use steam only for this game, and steam also has a workshop feature included, so it is easier to share mods with the rest of the gaming community.

And UoC 2 is a great game. You can also get nice discounts for both the game and DLCs on steam. The next discount phase is coming soon, accompanying the Stalingrad DLC release.

I love Unity of command, but... I hate steam  Never bought any game on this "titanic" system, and I do not understand why devs accept to lose 30% of their money with steam. Hope that UOC devs will in the future sell UOC II on their own site here. Even if the price was under - 50%, I would not buy anything on steam.

I've yet to use any mod for UoC2, not sure the value.

I would like to see an in game system for importing user made scenarios.

I will mod UOC II when I will buy a 64 bits PC 8-)

But at this time, I just mod UOC I. I am working on a special 3D Nato counter mod (based on Gatto nato counter mod 2.0) + adding heavy mech arty, siberian soviet troops, Guard soviet units, Azul division, French waffen ss units, etc : I founded a good way to add new units in the DLC (without sacrifice no any vanilla units = only 100% new units). And same for specialists, new specialisty may be added, using slots that are present in base game and unused in DLC (but usuable with DLC, if you modify xml files)

I wasn't even aware you could buy a 32bit only PC in the last 10 years.

If i think of a mod that would be cool, I would think small. A Malta invasion, or Kasserine pass. Break down into battles where 1 or 2 step units are significant.

Yes, small scenarios are better when you want to play vs IA.

But vs human, large scenarios are alsol very interessant with UOC 1, if you adapt in this orientation parameters of the game (to improve move of units, in particular) : I am working on a complete Barbarossa (level division) and a complete Great patriotic war (division level), and it's very funny to play the entire East front with this game. Wargames like War in the East are too heavy games, and Unity of command 1 allows you to play East Front 1941-1945 by a more simple and very interessant way. It's a pity we have not a complete finished map, UOC 1 devs have been a little bit lazy on this aspect

For UOC II devs : Please, do a 32 bits version for UOC 2 and sell it on your site. I am sure lot of players in Europe are now in 32 bits and don't buy their games on steam. I may certify to you that I represent this (heavy and powerfull  ) syndicat. I would be able to buy the game with a x 3 price. I'm crazy of UOC, it's a gem, one of the better wargame I never played (with Ultimate General Civil War)
