Can't see bottom of map with the reinforcement bar up (I think most maps have enough margin for you to scroll down).

What really isn't obvious is the Baku supply depot is not attached to the train line. Thus, it is critical that you cut the southern supply route, when when I did this, the infantry in the NE seem rather too keen to stay out of supply and not retreat to a better defensive position.

AI actually dug in when my 2 elite engie tanks were standing next to it (near Baku itself). Not clever at all.

644/1400 (I did buy engineers for 2 tanks, so they could dig people out anyway and a stug for my infantry. Just trying to move a bit faster).

Overall, wasn't a huge amount of fun, but more of a grind. Assume the point is to cause enough trouble in the West to prevent reinforcements from getting through, while you assault along the East coast. Without the seeming supply-bug and extra equipment on that flank, it could take all day to grind down the coast (You can only attack so many times).

EDIT: I think this wouldn't work in MP, since the need to block the railway is paramount and the AI aren't too keen to clear you off, even when your recon unit is fully starved. A player would know the importance of that piece and hunt it to its death (or at least scare it off the line).

Brilliant victory on turn 9, maybe possible on turn 8 with better rolls and if I had been able to move Wiking to the east as well (it was more or less stuck in the mountains this time until it was too late, must've been some mud in the military road hexes).

Like Stalingrad, the key for a not too difficult victory seems to be concentration of force. I did spend lavish amounts of prestige on specialist steps, but that's what prestige is for.

Not sure how much it would've mattered if the AI didn't defend Tbilisi like that, as I would still have gotten to Baku before most of those Rifle formations would've gotten there.

The AI did move the 3 green units near Baku out of their entrenchments, but even if I would not have been able to overrun them, I still doubt it would've cost me a turn.

Without a specialist step for the Panzer divisions, overruns will be more difficult, but that mostly means your advance will be delayed slightly.

I moved the Panzer division that starts in the west to the east, together with some infantry.

Wiking seems to suffer from its movement type as for some reason it couldn't get through the mountain pass initially whilst the Panzer division could.

The scenario's mostly a race against the mud, like Dnepr/Donbas for the Soviets.

I made some changes to the Baku scenario. It will be in the new beta.

It feels wrong that it's actually advantageous to move the tanks back through the pass so I tried to make it unattractive. Subtly!!!

Let me know how it worked once you've tried it.
