The scenario seems to be fairly well balanced overall. It took me a few tries to get a brilliant victory, mostly due to supply difficulties.

I noticed that the AI will, once again, just keep attacking a unit if it feels it's on a critical hex, so this is also the scenario where I suffered my first unit loss: a 5 step Rifle formation that, even though it was behind a river at the bridge on the eastern side of the map, was destroyed in a series of repeated attacks (which is why the AI's on "my" side of the Chir and has cut off supply in the screenshot). There's little you can do against that, as in all my playthroughs thus far, the AI will always attack it.

The main initial problem for the Soviets here is the reverse of Uranus, as the problem is in the east and not the west. You can't really breach the river line, and there are a fair number of German units around. The best way, as I see it, to get out of that situation is to break out towards the northwest, and merge the mobile forces that start in the east with those that start in the west so you can get to the southern objectives. Again, supply is the problem and usually not actual Axis resistance. I'd suggest dropping all logistics upgrades on the supply source in the northwest.

As always, I stopped worrying about flank security on turn 3, as I intended to finish the scenario by turn 4.

Congratulation:-)

This screen shot looks quite interesting. I think that I played this scenario differently. Can you, please, provide me save game of this scenario or even whole campaign, to check for possible AI improvements.
Savegames are in your APPDATA directory, this is typically something like:
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Unity of Command\save

If you think uploading game is a spoiler, you can send me game in private mail.

Tnx

What saved game from the campaign folder should I send, the Litte Saturn one?

I don't think the dashes the AI likes to make to cut off your supply line are always a bad idea, but there could be fewer of them as it also means the AI commits units that could be better used elsewhere.

In terms of defensive performance, I'd say the AI could use improvement when it comes to what (kind of) unit it uses to defend objectives. Currently, it tends to leave the unit that starts on an objective in place, which isn't always a good idea (such as with the Luftwaffe Feld Division in Rostov in Race to Rostov), although it is pretty good at moving a strong unit to a victory location. Perhaps the AI could be coded to pay more attention to how many steps a unit has, because even if a 3 step unit might be powerful, it can also be suppressed with relative ease, even by a single air strike (if those are available).

Umph, regular players won't be able to load this - you can't reload a single saved scenario from a campaign as a regular scenario.

Can members of the development team load it?

ante asked for it, so it's for him, essentially.

Yeah we can with some tweaking... it's not an intentional restriction or anything, just not a use case we considered.

I can only get the turn 5 victory. The problem I have is supply right at the end.
The north west forces can smash there way down no problem but the supply dries up even with the +1 increase per turn.

I can counter this IF I can take AND hold the bridge over the eastern river.

I swear I had some bad rolls in the last game but it might be case of me remembering the bum results while conveniently forgetting the good.

Still a 50 prestige is an improvement for me.

The key seems to be to not try and attack across the river with the forces in the east, but instead to use them to outflank the Axis positions.

I've attached a saved game showing more or less how I completed it in the campaign, although how I did it this time is more quick and dirty than how I did it in the campaign.
