Baku (BETA 4) (moved from Beta test forum)

Can't see bottom of map with the reinforcement bar up (I think most maps have enough margin for you to scroll down). What really isn't obvious is the Baku supply depot is not attached to the train line. Thus, it is critical that you cut the southern supply route, when when I did this, the infantry i...

Re: Stalingrad?

I'd vote for Africa/Italy too, as not quite so well-trodden ground. Normandy has been done to death, but I also think that it is very important for the American market. For Normandy and Market Garden, I think you might have to re-think supplies for paratroopers, but I suppose it might be fine just g...

Re: Gallop/Star

I had to speculate to accumulate! I bought a veteran tank unit and gave it the tank step from one of my infantry units and scrapped some small tanks for spares. I won with 620/700 points and the gain in prestige was 4x what I spent. Huzzah! Still I found the SS to be a pain in the neck again, but th...

Re: Gallop/Star

I was wondering if I shouldn't be reorganising more of my units to make fewer, but stronger ones. Often I avoid doing this since you really need to keep a solid front line to prevent easy breakthroughs, but like making infantry assaults, sometimes the cost it worthwhile. But yeah, nothing will effec...

Re: Gallop/Star

Second attempt - used partisans more effectively and made sure I rushed the final city with some cavalry. SS sat on the penultimate city this time though, rather than all of them hanging around Karkov (I'd starved the one that did go to Karkov and it is completely out of supply). Although I threw ab...

Re: Gallop/Star

I had real problems with the SS. I just didn't have any units that could crack them and they also managed to break through and take the first control point back from me (I'm happy to take high casualties against tough stuff, but I really had nothing that could do any damage at all to them!). In the ...

Re: Terek

Tried it again and I still can't work it out. I just can't shift the veteran AT-enhanced infantry sitting in the two rail-cities (I can just take them both out and capture the pass in the 8 turns :D) and if I rush East, I run out of supply before I get to the objective. *sits back and waits for Comr...

Re: Terek

I have tried it a couple of times, but although I could easily take the first objective, I needed to clear the 6inf+AT units the AI put in both of the cities, which were blocking the rail line, so I couldn't effectively attack the Eastern city in time. Maybe you have to rush both objectives at once,...

Race for Rostov

I hit hard in the South and centre, while allowing my Northerly force to mainly block. Unfortunately, the Nazis broke through in the centre and rushed to block my supply route (they do love to do that!), leaving 3 strong enemy units in a solid position behind my line and most of my army out of suppl...
