Re: Linux version crashes during Intro scenario
I've tested this in Ubuntu x64 and Fedora x86 and in both cases, the linux demo (1.02DEMO) is broken and produces the same errors as you've had. However, on these systems, the full version of the game (1.04a, with or without DLC, on or off Steam) is fine. Special thanks to nicktime for the save-game...

Re: [Linux] Missing font?
We've had a look at this issue and think it is because we needed to re-compile Pango (font library) for it to work correctly on all Linux systems. We've tested this successfully on Fedora 16 x86, but would appreciate your help in testing on your own operating systems if you have had font problems wi...

Re: [Steam] [Linux] Top panel visible in fullscreen
I would probably go with an option (and keep it off by default). UoC is pretty light on options, so it isn't like you are over-burdening users. Making it the only option (or the default option) would just annoy all those users, like yourself, who don't have a problem on Linux. Ideally a "Use SD...

Re: [Steam] [Linux] Top panel visible in fullscreen
Doubting myself, just checked it again and it worked, but then I remembered I was using sdl-fullscreen  As far as I'm aware Ubuntu 12.10 uses Unity and I certainly haven't messed with the installation to any great degree (It is enough trouble to work to make Linux actually _work_ without worry...

Re: [Steam] [Linux] Top panel visible in fullscreen
Oh, I was meaning that if it not uncommonly fails on Linux (e.g. on default Ubuntu installation) it probably warrants an option inside the game. As a aside, I'd expect the command-line option to be "--sdl-fullscreen", not "sdl-fullscreen", in Linux, but it doesn't matter that muc...

Re: [Steam] [Linux] Top panel visible in fullscreen
I've had the same problem with Ubuntu 12.10, both via Steam and downloaded manually. Starting it like that does seem to fix it and yes, no more alt-tab ;( Probably something you need to make clearer to Linux users (rather than the fix being hidden on a forum).

Re: Prestige useless ?!
You definitely don't need BVs unless you are a completist and even if you are a great player, on most of the maps you'll need a lot of luck, as well as skill, to achieve that level of success. Regular players, including myself, should be aiming for a decisive, not a brilliant, victory, every time. I...

Re: Red Turn DLC
In most closed beta tests with an NDA, it is mainly there to stop you telling the world how dreadful it is (either because the game is fundamentally dreadful or the game is a bit of a mess being not quite finished). I think the original game beta is long enough ago that I can say that it worked bett...

Re: Steam Greenlight
I found the original single-player scenarios fine for multiplayer, as long as both sides had an opportunity for maneuver (often the Russians had no tanks and/or ability to do anything but vainly protect set positions). Yes, an editor gives us a lot of opportunities for mayhem, though I'm no good at ...

Re: Steam Greenlight
More than happy to help you again. I've ground the original maps to death in single and multiplayer, so new challenges would be grand!
