Here is how I see it:
Before an attack:
The game calculates ratio of forces and modifiers (entrenched, experienced, etc.) into odds and shows the expected results in-game for you.
After an attack:
When you actually attack it applies a random modifier off-screen (we don't know how slight it is ...

Re: Odds numbers, combat outcomes, calculations
Technically both divisions have odds +3, but odds numbers for combat losses are slightly randomized, so the 4-step panzer division should have better chances of the odds staying at +3 (although unlikely reaching +4) and inflicting an extra off-sheet losses on the enemy (due to ratio), because it has ...

Re: Odds numbers, combat outcomes, calculations
When the game looks at odds numbers to determine combat outcomes, does it refer to the integer values that are displayed on the info sheet, or does it refer to a floating-point (or somehow else continuous) value that's hidden from the user? That is, does a unit that's just shy of making an odds ...

Re: Anniversary Post
It's great to read an update on the project. I know this is not enough for media to cover, but I am glad to be able to witness that something is happening and even hear what kind of features we might expect.

Re: HOI4 project lead acknowledges UoC's influence
I can see "hidden state" working as sort of fog of war. UoC had a problem of both parties being able to see everything. As for reinforcing - I believe I didn't encounter this problem, because I knew the rules under which it's not possible to reinforce. Perhaps click on "reinforce button" should ...

Re: HOI4 project lead acknowledges UoC's influence
It's hard to say there is influence. It's related to streamlining and reducing the amount of tedious elements the previous Hearts of Iron had a lot of. They're not mentioning any specific features UoC had that were superior (like divisions and support elements being transparently displayed on the ...

Re: 2x2 games webiste?
Surely you'll be making announcements of some sort when next title will be ready to be shared with the world? I'd be highly interested in knowing where to listen about checking on news for future 2x2 Games.

Re: Suggestions Thread
There is another idea: make digging-in part of the map, but cost more time and/or strength to set it up. I recall Panzer General having its own type of terrain like that. It should make infantry better on the offense as they'd fill the abandoned defensive positions. Right now you can take advantage ...

Re: Suggestions Thread
One more thing I'd like to suggest - tanks are too good at everything. They're even better at attacking cities or rivers. This ain't accurate and diminishes the role of infantry units. I think this should be changed somewhat so infantry could improve in other aspect (attacking through terrain that ...
