Re: Game Unit Suggestions
... If the tables are turned and the panzers are attacking, then the Germans enjoy an armor shift bonus and a very high organic attack value (but no artillery shifts). This makes Panzer & SS divisions *very* scary on the attack - specially against infantry in the open with no AT. Even AT might ...

Re: Can't land commandos in Market Garden?
I think it may be a question of fog of war. If memory serves, you can only land the amphibious unit cards in a hex that you have full visibility of, which in practical terms usually limits their use to within a hex or two of the front line. Aerial recon won't help, but the Ultra card (which removes ...

? I've always been skipping that first preparation turn as I figured I could never do anything useful....
I know, right? So obvious once you're there, but jeez it took me two dozen battles before I cottoned on to it.

Re: I may be going mad...
Possibility 1: You are experiencing a strange bug Possibility 2: You are in the pre-battle deployment phase, where you can see units and do a few things (add reinforcements, reassign supply hub steps and specialists, reorg, move HQs), but you can't move units. The battle hasn't properly started yet,...

Re: Normal vs Classic difficulty
Classic is definitely hard, and hard is tremendously hard. I haven't seriously tried a "hard" campaign yet, even after 50 hours of beta test I need some more skillz. Here's how I approach Wadi Akarit, with I'd say a 90% success rate on Classic. 1) Don't buy cards, certainly not at the firs...

Re: this negative steam review of UOCII worries me: is it accurate?
The negative comment is not a fair critique of the game, in my opinion. I know what he's on about. More than once I've found myself on the last turn of a battle, with a single shot at the objective at a 70% retreat chance...and I fail to take it. But the reason I'm on the final turn, with just this ...

Re: Better than brilliant victories
Seriously, well done. I've been playing around with this a bit. Some of your wins obviously require extensive save-scumming, as you freely admit. But a few others draw on tactics that never occurred to me. Following your tip about preventing Germans from moving into Kursk, I just did the Don Offensi...

Wow, somebody even more obsessed with the game than I am!

Re: Better than brilliant victories
How long did it take... well, I think I have 400-odd hours in the game all up! For this most recent effort at "ultimate speed runs", I'd say I gave most scenarios between 3 and 12 tries; a few which require a lot of luck I might have restarted several dozen times until the dice came out th...

Re: Game Crashes iMac 27 In Middle of Turn
I run UoC successfully on a 13-inch MacBook Air, 2015, 8GB RAM, running OSX 10.9.5. I run it out of Steam. That's probably not hugely helpful, just thought I'd let you know there is no fundamental problem with Mac compatibility. Are you certain the UoC version is fully updated on Steam? Have you don...
