File Sizes

I just reinstalled UOC after not playing for 2 years or so and was wondering why the file size for the base game is twice as large as each of the DLC's? Apart from the game manual I don't see what other files are in the base game that would not be in the DLC.

Supply Ranges

Still getting to grips with the mechanics of supply..It seems like it is not possible to get a DV without having at least some of your units out of supply at some point. Is this true or am I handling the supply network badly? I probably don't use the rail network properly, if you capture rail hexes ...

Re: Counters mod

Its a funny thing, I was initially put off buying UOC because of the toy-like unit counters, but now that I have played for a while I can't imagine NOT having them! The Nato counters make the game look incredibly dull and flat to my eyes. Its like playing the old Talonsoft East/West Front games in 2...

Re: Suggestions Thread

Without accounting for losses or true territorial objectives (i.e. if the Axis abandon Stalingrad at the moment the Soviets counterattack controlling the airfields supplying Stalingrad is pointless) the game fundamentally fails at even superficial simulation of the battles / operations presented. A...

Re: Suggestions Thread

:) I guess you're both right, SteveV and Shatner. Since the game is designed around detailed scenarios that don't leave room for changes through consequences of player's actions (because that would break the balance), it would require a big effort to change the campaign system. That could be a thing...

Re: Suggestions Thread

Shatner, thats a very cogent argument and obviously makes sense. UOC was designed to be approachable for people who don't have the time or the inclination to click thousands of times just to move one turn along as in something like War In The East. Having said that I don't think any of the external ...

OOB?

Is there somewhere in the game folders that shows you all of the units involved in each campaign? I like looking up the real world history of the different units but when you play through the game the only way to see the OOB is to write down all of the unit names. There are a couple of unit designat...

Re: Suggestions Thread

I also want the challenge of having to be concerned with my own losses. As it stands now, as long as I achieve the objectives on time my own casualties are irrelevant. If we could add a condition such as maintain a certain loss ratio while achieving the objectives that problem would be eliminated. ...

Re: Just like to say thanks

Thanks Shatner, this really is a great game for when you have an hour to spare and want to try out an idea in a scenario. It takes that long to set up one turn in Decisive Campaigns: Case Blue! Still trying to get my head around the supply logic but other than that the mechanics are really elegant. ...
