Re: Kursk-Orel singleplayer beta - UPDATED 29/1

The AI often keeps attacking towards a certain objective even if it would've been more practical to secure the flanks first. As far as I know, there's not much that can be done about that in the current engine.

Re: Kursk-Orel singleplayer beta - UPDATED 29/1

The AI attacks more than in the previous version, which isn't necessarily bad, although it also attacks in directions which don't really put pressure on my offensive. I still had to move through a wall of units to get to Kursk, and capturing Kursk can depend on getting good rolls. I could've attacke...

Re: Kursk-Orel singleplayer beta - UPDATED 26/1

With so many (fairly) good units for both sides the IGOUGO system shows its primary weakness as you might take an objective with your own quality unit, whilst the opponent will just take it back with his. I attacked Ponyri from the west and had not really suffered any losses worth mentioning yet (I ...

Re: Kursk-Orel singleplayer beta - UPDATED 26/1

Good scenario, quite challenging! The rows of German units in the north are the reason I didn't make a Soviet Kutuzov scenario. Like some of my scenarios, the scenario clearly shows both the strengths and the weaknesses of the AI and AI hints. If you attack in a sector where the AI isn't expecting a...

Re: Historical accuracy

Each step is an abstraction of the fighting strength of a unit. A 5 step unit is roughly 50% strength. A regiment is usually a 2-3 step unit. We didn't add partisans to Taifun to make the scenario somewhat less difficult, the majority of the partisan activity would also be off-map, and adding partis...

Re: why not?!

Everything in time, now that the Eastern Front has been covered, we can look for other theatres to cover.

Re: Historical accuracy

Virtually all of the units in any of the scenarios for the base game or the two DLC's were actually there or could have been there as they were in the area (they might be available as reinforcements in that case). Their step strength may be somewhat different from their historical counterparts in so...

Re: Black Turn campaign...

The variability in AI behaviour meant Uman Pocket doesn't have a very strict timetable for BV's, as it's one of the scenarios where changes to turn limits could unbalance things. We decided to leave it as it is, so it's deliberately easy. The Germans also have so many good mobile units with only a t...

Re: Black Turn: BV in Army Group Center and South?

I'm not entirely sure, but the difficulty ratings might be based more on the overall feel of the scenario.

Generally speaking, a BV is always medium-hard regardless of the difficulty level in the description.

Re: Black Turn: Army Group North

It used to be even more difficult, but I made the scenario somewhat easier during the beta so you can get a BV consistently, without requiring excessively good rolls.
