Italian Motorised Division

Unread postby nikdav » Sun Feb 19, 2012 1:55 pm

Ciao! UOC is very, very innovative and i find a good mix of fun and serious wargame.
I am italian and an old history and wargames lover, i always note that for the italian army the very sense of " motorised " expecially during Russian campaign is misunderstood.
The italian motorised divisions are " autotrasportabili " that is " if you add them truck -tracktors and so on it became motorised".
The Italian 8 Army in Russia never had the possibility to consider motorized a single division, also the PADA Celere division is only 50% motorised at best. all Italian HQ had special unit of truck to move selected unit and than shift them to another unit.
I think it is possible to consider all the italian division " infantry" with the specialist step " motorised".

Ciao !

Thx for the info. We actually have Italian motorised divisions on 4+1 movement (so, half-mobile ;)) but I'm pretty sure I did it for the wrong reasons - I was working backwards from the fact that they were a disproportionate nuisance to the Soviets in "Little Saturn".

ComradeP already complained about the same thing, to be sure. :)

Having a specialist step represent motorized transport is an interesting idea (there would be some interesting challenges in implementation though). More importantly, specialist steps are designed to represent combat elements, so I'm not sure how that would work.
