Crashing on OSX

Hi

I'm running OSX 10.8.2 and downloaded the Mac Demo of UoC and it worked perfectly.

I purchased the full version from Steam and the application crashes every time I try to open it.
Are there any known issues with the Steam version which have been fixed to work in the Demo?

The crash report follows if it helps...

Thanks

Can you please give us some more information about your Mac. Is this a retina mac? And can you please tell us your current resolution.
Update your steam to the latest version (Steam -> Check For Updates...)
Please do check if a log file named "Unity of Command.log" exists in "~/Library/Logs" and copy & paste it's content to the thread.

@Erraticbuddha: if you feel you can, please try the following:

1. Locate the directory where Steam stored your game. It should be something like:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Unity of Command

2. In that directory, right click on "uoc.exe" and create a shortcut to it "uoc.exe Shortcut"

3. Right click on "uoc.exe Shortcut" and go to Properties

4. Go to Target. To whatever is written in there, just add one word: safe. For example on my machine it now says:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Unity of Command\uoc.exe" safe

5. Click OK

6. Double click on "uoc.exe Shortcut" to start the game in "safe mode"

You should see the game start in a 1024x768 window. Please report whether this was successful.

Then go to game options to set a bigger resolution (whichever you like). Exit the game. It should now work when started with Steam too. Again, please report if everything worked.

Cheers! :)

Still wondering why i had to start in safe mode tho. I noticed you asked about retina disply for the mac user could it be the same thing with me as I am using a 1256x1440 res monitor?

Oh and thanks for the fast response :)

You needed to start in safe mode so that you can switch from fullscreen to windowed, nothing else.

Apparently fullscreen must be somehow running into problems with the Steam wrapper. If you go back to fullscreen, I suspect it will crash again.

Works fine in fullscreen even if launched through steam now so looks like its just on the first startup that steam is messing things up. Let me know if you need anymore info from me about this as im only too glad to help in anyway i can.

Good luck with the Golden Joystick Awards and sorry for hijacking the thread.

Hi

I tried running it again (on OSX) and it still crashes. It doesn't produce any logs at all in "~/Library/Logs", just the standard crash report again which I pasted in my original post at the top.

Nope, i'm not running a Retina Display. I'm running on a Mac Pro with an ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB at resolution 1920 x 1200.
As i mentioned before, the demo worked perfectly on the same machine, same resolution etc.

I'm also running the latest version of Steam.

Any ideas?

Thanks
