Description:
July 2nd 1942,
The Soviet Winter Offensives of 1941/42 have left an elongated German salient stretching from Vyazma to Rzhev. Facing the rear of this highly exposed bulge is the Soviet 39th Army, bolstered by the 11th Cavalry Corps and assorted partisan forces.
Operation Seydlitz was a German operation; the aim of which was to cut off and destroy the aforementioned units. By doing that the Germans hoped to stabilize the front around Rzhev and considerably shorten their frontline.
Historically Operation Seydlitz succeeded. Officially the Germans declared victory on July 12th. But the last of the fighting didn't die down until July 17th.
This is one of those battles that have been largely overlooked historically because of the decisive campaigns that took place further south at the time.
Scenario uses Black Turn map and base game units.
NOTES:
Easier than the scenarios I usually make (imo at least). But the Soviet position was simply too 'awkward' and 'foolish' to make this a hard one. Should still be a decent challenge though :).
Comments:
Another well designed scenario that keeps on pushing. Outstanding design.
